How to set up a solar power system

It is very simple to install a system that can generate electricity. There are five main things needed:

1. Solar panels

2. Component bracket

3. Cables

4. PV grid-connected inverter

5. Meter installed by grid company

At present, solar cells on the market are divided into amorphous silicon and crystalline silicon. Crystalline silicon can be divided into polycrystalline silicon and monocrystalline silicon. The photoelectric conversion efficiency of the three materials is: monocrystalline silicon > polycrystalline silicon > amorphous silicon. Crystalline silicon (monocrystalline silicon and polycrystalline silicon) basically does not generate current under weak light, and amorphous silicon has good weak light (there is little energy under weak light). Therefore, in general, monocrystalline silicon or polycrystalline silicon solar cell materials should be used.

2. Support selection

Solar photovoltaic bracket is a special bracket designed for placing, installing and fixing solar panels in solar photovoltaic power generation system. The general materials are aluminum alloy and stainless steel, which have a longer service life after hot galvanizing. Supports are mainly divided into two categories: fixed and automatic tracking. At present, some fixed supports in the market can also be adjusted according to the seasonal changes of the sun’s light. Just like when it was first installed, the slope of each solar panel can be adjusted to adapt to different angles of light by moving the fasteners, and the solar panel can be accurately fixed at the specified position by re tightening. 

3. Cable selection

As mentioned above, the inverter converts the DC generated by the solar panel into AC, so the part from the solar panel to the DC end of the inverter is called the DC side (DC side), and the DC side needs to use the special photovoltaic DC cable (DC cable). In addition, for photovoltaic applications, solar energy systems are often used in harsh environmental conditions, such as strong UV, ozone, severe temperature changes and chemical erosion, which stipulates that photovoltaic cables must have the best weather resistance, UV and ozone corrosion resistance, and be able to withstand a wider range of temperature changes.

4. Selection of inverter

First of all, consider the orientation of solar panels. If the solar panels are arranged in two directions at the same time, it is recommended to use dual MPPT tracking inverter (dual MPPT). For the time being, it can be understood as dual core processor, and each core handles the calculation in one direction. Then select the inverter with the same specification according to the installed capacity.

5. Metering meters (two-way meters) installed by the grid company

The reason for installing a two-way electricity meter is that the electricity generated by photovoltaic cannot be consumed by users, while the remaining electricity needs to be transmitted to the grid, and the electricity meter needs to measure a number. When photovoltaic power generation cannot meet the demand, it needs to use the electricity of the grid, which needs to measure another number. Ordinary single watt hour meters cannot meet this requirement, so smart watt hour meters with bidirectional watt hour meter measurement function are used.
